*A veteran is a person who has had long service in military, either in army, navy or airforce.
* They work for a longer period of their life for the country, living away from family and dear and near ones.
* They go through traumatic, life threatening and emotional events during life, but not expressed out or taken care many times.
* They undergo physical and mental stress and trauma during their service and many times it is not taken care properly.This can affect their mental health and result in mental disorders. For example: post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, substance abuse like alcoholism, suicidal tendencies etc.

• Veteran Affairs health care provides services like hospitals, community clinics, community living centers for homeless, readjustment counselling centers for veterans who have difficulty in family life etc.
* The current policies and plans like financial and social support help them to regain and lead a normal life. Many of them may be handicapped due to injuries and not able to work after service, these policies help them to lead a life with out much stress.
• It provides variety of benefits and services that provide financial and other forms of assistance to veterans, their dependents, and survivers like pension, compensation, rehabilitation services, employment assistance , education assistance and life insurance coverages etc.
