The strategies that I would use to address prevention, treatment programs, and positive change (staying abstinent) for each of the selected populations i.e. the population of Arab Americans and Hispanics include making use of the religious prohibition of drinking in case of the Arab Americans in promoting abstinence. In the case of the Hispanics making them educationally aware of the medical harms associated with drinking will lead to abstinence. Further, a research about the social issues such as stress in personal life, work or peer pressure that are creating a pressure for any population under consideration will help in devising strategies to overcome substance abuse. The factors that contribute to these groups being at risk for increased drug or alcohol problems include; economic hardship, stress in personal life due to a divorce or at work. The influence of the social company i.e. the peer pressure can also be another factor.
