Solutions

Expert Solution

Moral error theory is characterized by its two proposition that 1. All moral claims are false that 2. There is a reason to believe that all moral claims are false. Moral error theory is a radically counterintuitive view, it has attracted criticism. Theorists argue that genuine moral reasons must be categorical, We usually disagree about which action is morally wrong, but we do agree that some actions are actually wrong, Abusing someone is indeed wrong but according to error theory abusing someone is not wrong, According to error theory all moral statements are false, In view of theorist Joyce error theory depends upon two theses they are conceptual thesis and substantive thesis. When we use moral language we are expressing our gratitude describing facts about reality. Some skeptical fact is that no one is having any moral knowledge we are not justified in believing that and never know that what moral claims are actually true because it is having the reason not to be true. So there is no moral reason as there is no reason at all. Error theorist widely agrees about the nature of morality and moral judgment, they disagree about what to do with moral discourse,

Morality in a society is indeed having its role to play; an error theorist will always find the counter answer to a morally correct act. Like abusing some ethically is wrong but the error theorist can prove abusing someone for fun is not wrong.

No moral statement can be true. They are meant to be true or false, but they are ultimately false. That’s why whenever we make a moral statement, we are in error. Because we are making a statement that cannot be validated Error theorist Mackie it is almost impossible to think that there is an underlying moral fundamental that holds them together. Therefore, morality must be an illusion.

But in real life morality does have value, our everyday moral practice moral thought moral judgment, moral motivation are true, These moral values have an impact on us if we go according to error theorist then all moral ethics and value will have no value at all..
