.What are abnormal heart sounds? What do these heart sounds indicate?
There are mainly two normal heart sounds,that is lub (S1) and a
dub (S2) sound. These sounds are occured by closing of valves
present inside the heart.
If any abnormalities in the heart, there may occur any additional
or abnormal sounds.
Heart murmer is the most important and common heart sound. A murmer
means that a blowing, whoosing or rasping sound generated along
with heartbeat.
Mainly 2 types of heart murmers,such as
Innocent or physiological heart murmer
Abnormal heart murmer
It is also categorised into systole murmers (during either first
sound ) and diastole murmers (during the second sound).
Innocent murmer can be occurs in childrens and adults. This can
cause the sound of normally moving blood through the heart.
Innocent murmer in adult caused due to physical activity, fever, or
pregnancy.
Abnormal murmer in child is occured by congenital heart
maliformation, it can be seen at the birth time. They can be
corrected by surgery.
In adults, abnormal murmer cause many problems in the valves, that
can be seperate the chambers of heart. Valves do not close
tightly,so the blood flow backwards. This is known as
regurgitation. The valve is narrow or stiff, it is stenosis. They
can be occurs a murmer.
Abnormal heart indicates that the heart can be a serious condition.
There are many signs indicates that the abnormal heart condition.
It includes chest pain, chronic cough, shortness of breath, sudden
weight gain, enlarged neck vein, enlarged liver and so on.
Tetralogy of Fallot, patent ductus arteriosus,atrial septal defect,
coarctation of the aorta,
ventricular septal defectare the congenital abnormalities due to
abnormal heart sound.
Heart valve defects includes infective endocarditis, heart failure
etc.
