List which of the eleven network connections listed above most likely involve a connection to the Internet

Solutions

Expert Solution

1.Terminal/microcomputer-to-mainframe computer connections

It needs internet connection.

Reason: Because mainframe computers share their data to the devices or terminals like microcomputer over the internet.

Main Frame computers maintain the bigger datasets along with no security.

2.Microcomputer to local area network connections

It doesn't need internet.

Reason: The local area network(LAN) uses local networks particularly in an organization.LAN may be wired or wireless but it doesn't use the internet. So microcomputer doesn't need any internet connection to access the networks locally.

3.Microcomputer to an internet connection

It requires an internet connection.

Reason: The connection itself saying the internet connection. If we want to access any network globally using microcomputer

we need the internet.

4.Local area network to local area network

It doesn't need an internet connection

Reason: LAN to LAN network doesn't need any internet connection just we cascade/connect the main ethernet port to the other ethernet port.

5.Personal area network to workstation connections

It doesn't need an internet connection

Reason: The persona area network uses the wired/wireless connections to the workstation or devices. For example, if we want to transfer any data from mobile to laptop then we use the USB cable to transfer the data. It doesn't need any internet connection.

6.Local area network to metropolitan area network connections.

It needs an internet connection

Reason: Metropolitan area network is a combination of two or more LANs and it transfers the data from one campus to the city. It may need an internet connection

7.Local area network to wide area network

It needs an internet connection

Reason: By using routers we can connect to wide area network using the internet. We can access addresses like google and all by using the internet.

8.Wide area network to wide area network

It needs an internet connection

Reason: By using the internet service providers we can connect wide area network to wide area network.

9.IoT devices to Local area network

It doesn't need any internet connection

Reason: No internet connection needed for this connection. If we need any services using these IoT devices then we need gateways and all to get accessed to the internet.

10.Satellite to microwave connections

It doesn't need an internet connection

Reason: Microwave connection itself don't require any internet connection to communicate with the satellite. Data transfer using a line of sight propagation and it doesn't need internet over communication.

11.Wireless telephone connections

It doesn't need an internet connection

Reason: It needs the cellular network instead of the internet.

Computer A is sending a packet to Computer B, and the network topology says it must go through Switch A, then a router, the Switch B, and then the packet reaches switch B. If the packet is traveling down the OSI model from application to physical, how does it go through the router before the...
