Total quality management could be defined as the system in which organisation take efforts to widely install and make permanent atmosphere where employees work together to continuously improve and increase their ability to provide the best qualitative on demand products and services that customer could percieve the value within it. The main goal is to increase the qualitative aspects of the product. As easy it sounds, TQM has its own barriers and obstacles which are as follows:

1. Lack of trained workers. The first obstacle that would be seen by the organisation is the lack of trained workers in the organisation. Workers are often not skilled and trained enough to develop and to provide a particular qualitative feature in their services and products which customer could appreciate or value. Thus, to overcome this step, effective measures of training and development should be taken to make the workers trained and work effectively.

2. Competitive markets: Second challenge could be your level of competition which exists. Obviously, you are not the only organisation in the market to serve for the needs of the customers. Various other platforms are also present in the industry who try to make the customers retained. Thus, you have to overcome your competitive atmosphere also to attain TQM.

3. Poor plans and specifications: Third obstacle could be your poor planning and the specification which comes along with it. It is often seen that many organisation doesn't plan effectively and accurately to reach the targets. Targets are left untouched because of the poor planning features and specifications like budgets and resource management. An organisation should develop and take care of their plans and plan every action accordingly to deserve the best output.

4. Bad attitudes: One more obstacle could be the bad attitudes or the moral behaviour of the people in the organisation. An organisation and the manager have to understand that quantity is not the only thing which should be served, quality is also an important aspect. Thus, both quality and quantity should go hand in hand and for that communication, motivation and leadership should be provided properly to make it come true.

5. Cost: At last, one basic hurdle which is seen by mostly all the organisation achieving the standards of TQM is the cost related factor. For maintaing quality, good quality of resources, training, supply, actions and operations are required to reach that standard and for that huge funds and cost are required which becomes a obstacle for an organisation to spend and to have it even.
