Critical Thinking Assignment Four

  1. We often say that education is the key to improving one's chances in life, but is our educational system really equal? Compare, for example, schools in different states where you or your friends have lived. Then compare schools in the suburbs with schools in the inner cities. Why is there such a variation? Only about one-third of all high school math and science teachers majored in math or science in college. Where do you think those one-third teach? Who is teaching math and science in the other schools? What does that say about equal educational opportunities? Would you support a voucher system that would allow students to go to any school they wanted to?

The education system in the schools is meant to make a better future for the society ,the system is responsible to build the better tommorow for the world .In todays scenario the schools are not fullfilling its objectives for which they were opened and established .The major objective of the schools was to build the better future irrespective of backgrounds of the students but todays schools are basically moving towards making education a mere business .Due to this the reliability towards the schools have decreased drastically .The schools in the localities with poor population have merely any facilities. The classes are not held regularly and the teachers are not even well qualified. This can be seen in state with the poor population .The better facilities and the qualified major teachers are found in schools whose fees are very high and which cannot be affforded by low or middle class income group people. This has increased the gap between the people and not only on their mindset but it also creates a social gap between the people and also creates the stigma on the minds of young children. In the poor schools the teachers are not very qualified ,here there are the teachers who got the job by backdoors or in illegal ways like bribery. This situation has lead to fall in equal oppurtunities in the education sector between rich and poor.
