Identify and explain two ways that human resources professionals
can support managers. Identify and explain two ways that
controllers can support managers. Why is it important for managers
to work collaboratively with controllers, human resource
professionals and other internal stakeholders and leaders within
the company?
The HR manager assists managers in various ways. HR managers assist managers to develop good leadership skills required to accomplish organizational tasks and objectives. HR managers impart training to the managers and employees regarding conflict resolution, communication enhancement, and improvement in problem-solving abilities. They provide soft skills training as well to the managers. By imparting this training, they improve the productivity of both employees and managers.
Another way the HR managers contribute to managers to succeed is by providing ways to motivate the employees (Scu, 2019) through the right compensation and benefits program. These can be tangible and intangible benefits to the employees. They assist managers to address issues of compensation and benefits and this assists managers to obtain the commitment of employees to achieve their tasks.
The financial controllers assist the managers in decision making as they are required to focus on value creation and provide insights to managers for decision making (Ernest & Young, 2019). They need to prepare the business story in figures and this assists the managers to know what kinds of activities offer benefits to the organization and what kinds of activities need to be stopped or improved. As managers are mostly organizing the resources of the organization, they are assisted by the financial controller to manage the resources in an optimum way.
The analysis of the contribution made by controllers, HR managers, and other internal stakeholders and leaders suggest that managers need to work collaboratively with them to achieve organizational productivity. The financial controller provides not only insights regarding the financial performance of the company, but they familiarise with various success and failure aspects to the managers. Managers, therefore, need to work with them collaboratively. HR managers provide training and development opportunities to enhance the productivity of the organization. They make sure that recruitment practices must be fair and according to the mission and vision of the company. This assistance requires the manager to work closely with HR managers to formulate effective strategies at the workplace. Internal stakeholders such as employees, the board of directors, investors, etc., have expectations from the company. Employees want more salary and career opportunities, the board of directors wants to ensure the company functioning in an ethical way and investors want profit maximization. Therefore, the managers need to understand their needs and work collaboratively with them to ensure that the needs of these stakeholders are fulfilled.
