CHLAMYDIA
INFECTION: It is the sexually transmitted infection
usually caused by bacterium CHLAMYDIA TRACHOMATIS. Mostly
patient have no symptoms of the infection in the starting phase but
when symptoms occur it includes: vaginal discharge and burning with
urination. This is the type of PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease),
which may leads to future infertility and ectopic pregnancy if not
treated properly.
TREATMENT OF
CHLAMYDIA INFECTION:
- ANTIBIOTICS are used to treat the disease such as Azithromycin,
Doxycycline, Erythromycin etc.,these antibiotics should have to be
taken for 7 days as a full course of treatment.
- Use condoms or having sex with only one partner for prevention
of spread of disease.
- Person should abstain from the sexual activity for atleast 7
days.
- Gonorrhea, Syphilis and HIV should be tested in those who are
positive.
- Screening of the partner and also treatment of the partner
until fully recover.
- If a women is having chlamydia positive and also she is
pregnant then doxycycline is contraindicated.
- Women with chlamydia in pregnancy should be treated with
ofloxacin and levofloxacin.
- Neonates and Infants may also be treated with the recomended
doses of antibiotics.
