Environmental law means the laws that regulate the impact of
human activities
on the environment which covers a broad range of activities that
affect air,
water, land, flora or fauna. It includes laws that relate to land
use and
development, pollution, waste management, climate change, emissions
and
water resource management. Conclude SIX (6) general functions of
most
environmental laws.
1. The National Green Tribunal Act, 2010: This law is enforced as Nation Green tribunal to conserve and protect the forest and other environmental issues related with air and water. This act also deals with the giving compensation for damages of property to any person.
2. The Air ( Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981: This act is mainly deals with the prevention and control of air pollution and maintain the ambient quality of air standard by prohibiting or reducing the fuels or substances that creats air pollution.
3. The water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974: This act is mainly deals with the prevention and control of water pollution and to maintain the quality of water by prohibiting the discharge of pollutants into the water bodies beyond limit.
4. The Wildlife Protection Act, 1972: This act is mainly deals with the protection of biodiversity and wildlife by strictly prohibiting the killing or gaming or poaching the wild animals.
5. The Forest Conservation Act, 1980: This act is mainly deals with the conservation, protection and planning of forest and sustainable use of forest resources to keep the environment healthy.
6.The Hazardaous Waste Management and Handling Amedment Rules, 2003: This act is mainly deals with the manage and handle the hazardous waste( i.e toxic, inflammable, corrosivs, chemical properties )wisely by not creating any environmental pollution.
