Distinguish between formal and informal methods of researching data for a business meeting.
Informal research method is something in which unstructured research methodology is being adopted. It means we do not have a proper research design or objective. These researches basically keeps main focus on qualitative aspects.
Personal interviews are good example of informal research. These researches and their findings can not be represented in front of a group of people. Formal research methodology follows a particular protocol. When a survey is being conducted then this is being considered as an example of formal research.
It has a well defined objective. Various steps are designed with a proper planning. A preset questionnaire also remain available. Results are also published and represented in front of audience. Proper analysis of gathered data is being done so that performance of company can be improved.
An organised and step by step procedure is the characteristic feature of formal research. This fact remain absent from informal research.
