Two types of flow regime are normally used in the design of an activated sludge process,
namely completely mixed and plug flow (both are continuous). Using first order kinetic
reaction, demonstrate which flow regime provide a better performance, given the
followings:
Q = 550 m3/d t = 6 hours Co = 225 mg/L k = 0.15 d-1

1- Use Heun’s method without iteration to solve

?2???2−0.5?+?=0

y(0) = 2 and y’(0) = 0 solve from x = 0 to 3 using h = 0.2 (step size) present y values as a table versus x values (50p)

Instructions about question 1: considering step size and interval for x it will not be reasonable to proceed through hand calculations. You may want to use excel or other software but you need to write down first 3 steps of the calculations (obtain y(0.2), y(0.4) and y(0.6) ) in detail showing all calculations. Rest of the y values can be calculated using a software and tabulated (this is valid for hand calculations too provide calculations for first 3 steps and present the values as a table). You need to provide the code or excel file for the software that you used for calculation.......please sir (with explanation,step by step and calculation)please sir must

1. In California, medical care costs for back injuries are 43 percent higher when part of a workers’ compensation claim than when part of a group medical insurance plan. Critics of workers’ compensation claim that this difference can be attributed to abuse of the system by both injured employees and their physicians. Proponents of workers’ compensation argue that the higher costs indicate exactly the opposite: that is, under workers’ compensation, injured employees are receiving more and better (hence more costly) medical care. They claim that group medical plans are shortchanging employees by allowing insurance companies to make medical decisions. What is your opinion?

2. Following an order from his supervisor, a carpenter working for Jones Construction Company removed all the guardrails from stairwell openings, floor openings, and open-sided stairs. Uncomfortable with this action, the carpenter telephoned his union representative, who, in turn, called OSHA. Jones Construction Company was fined $15,000 for willful violations. Jones Construction Company, in turn, fired the carpenter. Was the firing lawful (under OSHA standards)? Was the action of the carpenter appropriate (under OSHA standards)?

Consider the following temperature surroundings:

Ground level, 21oC; 500m, 20oC; 600m, 19oC; 1000m, 20oC.

1) If we release a parcel of air at 600m, will it rise, sink or remain at 600m?

2) If a 70-m stack releases a plume with a temperature of 30oC, how high does the plume rise?

The best available affordable technology (BAAT) to remove Turbidity from water is the coagulation-flocculation process in potable water treatment schemes. Chemical coagulants used include Alum (hydrated Aluminum Sulphate) and Ferric Chloride (FeCl3).

Zai WTP is an important plant providing treatment for Yarmouk River water (through King Abdalla Canal) to supply part of the water requirements of our capital, Amman.

The plant used Alum to accomplish coagulation-flocculation process from its start until the year 2000 when a decision was made to replace Alum by FeCl3.

Do some research and prepare a ONE-page write up explaining the reasons behind that switch in the type of the chemical used?
