In batching of aggregates the moisture content is expected to be in saturated surface dry condition. However, in a concrete production, the actual moisture content of coarse aggregate on the site just before the batching measured as 8%, and its saturated surface dry condition requires 5% moisture content. If 1000kg/m3 of coarse aggregate and 220kg/m3 of free water is needed for a concrete production, how many kg of coarse aggregate and water is to be placed into the mixer for one m3 of concrete production?

A very wide embankment with height of 3m and the soil unit weight 19 kn/m3 to be constructed. Calculate the normal stress, water pressure and effective stress at two positions: At the middle of clay, the depth = 5 m and the saturated unit weight = 27 kn/m3, and at the middle of sand, the depth = 5 and the saturated unit weight = 21 kn/m3.

For two cases

- Before constructing embankment

-Instantly after constructing the embankment

The particle has a mass of 0.6 kg and is confined to move along the smooth horizontal slot due to the rotation of the arm OA. Assume the particle contacts only one side of the slot at any instant. The arm has an angular acceleration of θ¨ = 3 rad/s2 when θ˙ = 2 rad/s at θ = 30∘. (Figure 1) Part A Determine the magnitude of the force of the rod on the particle when θ = 30∘. Express your answer to three significant figures and include the appropriate units. F F = nothing nothing Request Answer Part B Determine the magnitude of the normal force of the slot on the particle when θ = 30∘.
