Why is professionalism integral to the field of healthcare reimbursement? Explain.
Professionalism is very important in healthcare for the safety of the patient.
Professionalism means respect for others and honor, and integrity. It is a set of behaviour which should be learned and practiced over time. The individual professionalism influences his or her environment and in then it again influences the physician.
Professionalism includes 4 core principles- accountability, excellence, altruism and humanism.
Excellence means continual improvement in the quality of care. Learning throughout the career to improve the skill.
Accountability means avoiding self interest to over ride patient's interest.
Altruism means disclosing the medical error to the patient. And having good communication skill.
Humanitarian neans commitment to the service.
There should be respect for others.
Medicine is going under rapid change. And it is very important to reimburse. The medical care that is provided should be of high quality.
