Discuss some examples of how motherboards and CPU combinations have evolved in the past 20 years. (Think about form factors ie. AT, ATX)
Cpu and motherboard have a great development in past 20 years. Cpu is like human brain and motherboard as the spinal cord. It is because they are working effectively to fullfill basic needs of user. Cpu is the component of Computer that processes the data and perform arithmetical operations. Motherboard is the board that connects different components like memory, cpu, storage, graphic, etc. For example : in banking and in government services they are fullfilling our requirements. The combination of cpu and motherboard have a great evolvement in the past 20 years.
Form factors of motherboard:
At and atx : The AT motherboard was introduced by ibm in August 1984. AT motherboards used two 12 pin plug to power the motherboard.
Ats is a motherboard and power supply configuration development by intel. Ats use one 20 pin plug for the power supply.
Baby at- it was the first motherboard and used less features.
Btx- it was introduced by intel. Btx requires a certain arrangement of motherboard components to maximize cooling.
Dtx- it is is variation of the atx form factor designed for smaller computers.
Lpx- it was used in 1980's throughout the 1990's.lpx is an older form factor, they offered poor cooling, poor upgradability.
Full at - it was developed by ibm. it is rarely found.
Full atx- it was developed to improve standardization.
Micro atx- it was micro atx. It performed basic functions.
Nlx- it was developed to replace the lpx.
Cpu and motherboard are the core of computer.
Many organisations are dependent on cpu and motherboard. banking sectors, business services and financial, accounting are based on computer system. Like online services, study, offices, infrastructure works under computer system. so we can say that cpu and motherboard plays an important role for processing data in every field.
