Recombinant DNA is a technology which changes the genetic material and genetic characteristics of an organism, this happened because it inserts a different organism's DNA into another organism which is also called genetic engineering. In our modern age, this process is widely used to increase the number of genetically modified crops.
Application :
i)In agriculture, it basically used to increase the efficiency of plant growth, which tends to the plant's ability to fix nitrogen.
ii)Recombinant DNA also used to increase the plant's resistance towards disease which helps the plant to battle against viral viruses by producing proteins
iii). The genes for an insecticide are obtained from a bacterium that has been inserted into other plants to allow the plants to build resistance power which resists caterpillars and other pests.
iv)One of the main applications of recombinant DNA was the rot-resistant tomato. In this plant, a gene is added after that produces an antisense molecule which helps to inhibit the tomato from producing an enzyme that helps a lot by encouraging rotting. Even the most important part is that without this enzyme, the tomato can ripen longer on the vine.
v)Bt cotton is an application of recombinant DNA which helps farmers by killing a lot of harmful agent of agriculture, as a result, farmer's use less number of pesticides
