Which enzyme/s are used in recombinant DNA technology?

ligase

polymerase

helicase

restriction enzyme

Solutions

Expert Solution

Ans:

Ligase

polymerase

Restriction enzyme

Explanation: Recombinant DNA technology is the set of techniques that identified, isolated and recombined DNA from different sources and new characteristics introduced into an organism. There are several enzymes used in recombinant DNA technology. Restriction enzyme is a enzyme that cuts DNA at a specific recognition sequence and used in recombinant DNA technology. For example, EcoRI is a restriction endonuclease that cuts at recognition sequence 5'-G/AATTC-3'. DNA polymerase I and Taq polymerase are used in recombinant DNA technology which have 5' to 3' polymerase and exonuclease activity. DNA polymerase I also has 3' to 5' exonuclease activity. DNA ligase is also used in recombinant DNA technology that join DNA molecules together by formation of phosphodiester bonds between nucleotides. DNA helicase is the enzyme occurs in DNA replication, repair and recombination where it unwinds the DNA.
