Socioeconomic status - It means financial dtatus of parents. It plays an important role in child and adolescent development as a person who has higher status is able to provide so many facilities to their children and they have different environment at their home. By making available of those facilities whether it is related to school or sports or in field of language. Child experience a different childhood in comparison to the parents who have low socioeconomic status because these people suffer from financial problems and it is not possible for them to give all the facilities to their children which are required and so the child lack in so many things whether it is knowledge or education.
Socioeconomic factors affect the language development of children and adolescents in so many ways:-
1.) Home environment - Environment in the home of children plays very important role in their development as child learns a behaviour, language, thoughts related to particular things at home. Child living in low socioeconomic status families speak in a different way as they speak the way their parents speak. We know that so many parents doesn't pronounciate words properly, so this is how the child going to pronounce the words. Different parents teach different manners and things related to people, education , behaviour and other things. So a child living in a family having low socioeconomic status is having different thought process . The child sees the world , the people , education in a different way. A child living in a family having higher socioeconomic status speaks differently as if the parents are educated then the child has good way of spelling words. Their parents provide them more facilities and by having experience of different life. They have different thoughts related to people, education and language. They are able to get all the things they need for their overall development.
2.) Health - Childrens who are born in higher socioeconomic status family are able to get all the healthy foods for them which is required for the development of brain while the children born in low socioeconomic status do not get such high nutrient food and this affects their brain development. So many childrens are malnourished and because of studying on an empty stomach they are not able to concentrate on their studies.
