Describe the impact of photosynthesis (both positive and negative) on humans and environmental health. Support your response with specific, real-world examples.
Photosynthesis is the process used by plants, algae and certain bacteria in which light energy is captured and used to convert water, carbon dioxide, and minerals into oxygen and energy-rich organic compounds. Simply we can say that green plants and some bacteria prepared their own food material in the presence of sunlight with the help of carbon dioxide and water. All green plants perform photosynthesis. It is a only natural process which uses sunlight for the production of food and also it produces oxygen which is necessary for the respiration of all living organism. Fruits , vegetables , different medicines , clothes and so many other things that we use in our daily life are the products of photosynthesis. Herbivorus animals depends on plants for food while humans depends on herbivorus animals for meat. Means directly or indirectly humans are totally depends on photosynthesis. Also it helps in maintain balanced concentration of carbon dioxide in air, as carbon dioxide is utilize during photosynthesis. Thus photosynthesis has a very positive effect on humans and ecology , but there are exceptions to that as well.
Outbreaks of algae, which is occurs due to increase the amount of nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus in water, kills thousands of marine animals. The population of algae in a river , ponds or sea rapidly grows and dies, devastating to local wildlife, ecosystems and people. There are many ways algal blooms impact the environment and economy. Some algal blooms are toxic to humans and for both aquatic and terrestrial animals. Also sudden death of this extremely grow algae results in depletion of oxygen levels in water source as dead algae break down, providing an ideal food source for bacteria. As the bacteria multiply, they suck the oxygen out of the water. when fish and other animals may not be able to escape to more suitable oxygen levels, major fish deaths typically occur. As primarily we say this happens because of increase amount of nutrients , but this phenomena cannot occurs without photosynthesis. so we can say excessive photosynthesis perform by algae has a negative impact on human and environmental health.
