Compare and contrast the common view of defendants and victims as described in the chapter. Why do you think that most people are misinformed about the typical relationship between victim and defendant?

Mostly peoples are used to be misinformed about the victim defendant relationship , they believe that victim and defendant are similar because both of them are considered as in low powerless position and both of them need some support such as lawyer , juries or a court session.  

But actually when we go through them deeply we would notice that victim are actually who has harrassed , injured or who is not involved in any crime while defendants are used to be the suspected or accused of committing a crime who need to defend himself/ herself that he / she has not committed the crime, unlike victims who need to be defended.

But , there is incidents were defendants are actually innocent but they get harrassed because of the accusations made on him . In such situation, the defendant can be called as a victim but there is also were victim can be called as a defendant. Therefore , we can conclude that victim defendant is a complex relationship.
