Sex is a term that reflects the biological aspects in terms of male and female. The distinction on the basis of genetalia is also related in this case.

On other hand, gender reflects the social roles and the self concept or tu he internal facets of the human existence.

It also includes the perception and comprehension of oneself.

The capability to distinguish between boy and girl on the basis of varies physical attributes is called gender awareness.

Generally, children recognise that they are either a boy or a girl around the age 3.

Cognitive development theory concentrates on the betterment of cognitions in order to be aware of the gender related aspects.

Social learning theory concentrates on the reinforcement of the biological attributes, concept of rewards and punishments, and stereotypes.

Gender schema theory reflects the comparisons between the self and the others.

Personally, I feel that the social learning theory best illustrates the gender awareness process as human beings are social animals and develop the through social interactions.

Gender roles have indeed changed over time. This is evident from numerous studies and surveys and can be experienced during routine life.

A far better percentage of women tends to be working now. Many women are handling big responsibility in organisations and in the government too.

On other hand, males help and assist in household/ domestic work.
