Approach to Health Care can be broadly categorized into two types:

1. Clinical Level - One can provide decision making process simpler by explaning the treatment options and the therapies that are required for the patient. This decision needs to be made in the presence of the patient making it a 'shared decision making process' that could enhance a healthier relationship.

There are six steps of shared decision making process

  1. Invite the patient to participate. this helps them understand that they have a choice in their treatment process.
  2. Present the options that are available
  3. Provide information on the benefits and the risks associate with it. Make sure they understand correctly.
  4. Help patients evaluate their options.
  5. Facilitate deliberation and decision making. Keep inquiring if they require any more information that could help come to a decision.
  6. Assist with the implementation by paraphrasing and sharing the conclusion they have come to. This will help the patient to review his decision and for starting the next steps to be taken.

2. Health Care Management Level: The decision makers in the hospital organization, who plan and decide the resources that are required and available for the patients.
