Would the prescribed leadership behaviors in the Situational Leadership Model work as well with a virtual team? Explain.
Virtual teams are the teams which are connected via technology on a networking platform and work at different locations using the technology itself that's why are called us virtual teams. Under the situational behaviour patterns, various behaviours are studied by the employers towards the employers at various situational factors which are as follows:
1. Directing: The direction provided is low and the support provided is also low as the employees are very new to the organisation and have no knowledge about work.
2. Coaching: Gradually, the pace took place and the directing and the supporting provided for the employees increases with a good speed and efficiency making them learn and adapt more.
3. Supporting: Supporting is still provided although the directing gradually loses its pace and is decreased for the employees as they have increased their time in the organisation.
4. Delegating: At last, high directing and low supporting is provided when the employers understand the capabilities are delegate their work to the employees for work sake.
The situationa leadership could be and not be provided for the virtual teams as the team members are not physically present in one location so they can't be leaded by the delegation or the support you are being provided to them. They can't even see or feel the support on the network media and you can't even closely track or monitor their operations as well. Thus, many organisation doesn't feel this type of leadership being effective for virtual teams.
