You just landed a Project Manager volunteer position for a non-profit organization. As they don’t know much about project management, they want your advice with a couple of things. Some of their sponsors are giving them money for buying materials and software. They trust you because you seem to know a lot about this, help them with the following recommendations:
1. Is it worth it to buy a PM software or to get a Free/Open
source/Online version? Provide two reasons to justify your
answer.
2. Find two suitable paid PM software and provide the cost of their
licenses.
3. List three free PM software and mention their top three
features.
4. What are those three functions/features, a software must have
for you to like it?
5. There is money for one manual/book, what is your recommendation?
And why?
1. It is always worth to buy a project management Softwares because these Softwares are used highly by many project management teams. The reason is that the software offers certain features. The users of the software can communicate through email. Furthermore, the search tool of the software can be used to look out for the email conversations and locate various files.
2. The two project manager software include Basecamp (99 dollars per month) and Teamwork Projects (69 dollars per month).
3. The three free project management software includes:
a. Project.co- the features include the ability to add external and internal users; for each project, there is a discussion feed for each project; ability to integrate the payment related solutions.
b. Toggl Plan- Gantt chart for the visualization of the projects and deadlines; teams can collaborate through task notes and shared calenders; integration with Evernote, Github and Slack.
c. nTask- can integrate with third-party apps; resource management; multiple workspaces are present.
4. The three functions/features that a software must-have for me to like it include Gantt chart for the visualization of the projects and deadlines; the ability to add external and internal users; resource management.
5. My recommendation is to make the manual free of cost or the cost must be concluded with the software itself if the software is paid software. This is because why should a user will pay extra money even for using a software manual.
Note: If you liked the answer please give an Up-vote, this will be quite encouraging for me, thank you!
