Expert Solution

social contextual learning is a very informal and type of learning from peer-to-peer as it formulates spontaneously. As everyone knows, there is always a diversity of work nature in an organization where employees differ in degrees of experience and with a different set of skills that might benefit other employees at times. So, these employees can also train or help out each other unofficially, out of courtesy or peer group and share their knowledge. Employees can solve the problems, work in different processes and methods with the process of social contextual learning.

Guided competency development- this type is a formal type of method to learn and get trained. This method trains the employees within the organization and defines in a way where the company sets of abilities or skills for positions. In guided competency development, the HR department set the pre lectures and training programs sessions for the training and development of its employees. This method is fundamental in nature and benefits the employee in learning the basic skills.

Both methods are quite important and necessary for an employee to grow and learn. The formal and informal method, both gives the learning experience from training sessions and through peer group learning. Mostly, companies give guided competency development learning to employees and rest employees can learning while working daily with peer groups and co-workers. Social networking gives a real and practical experience. So, both are equally important and essential.
