What is the difference between Organizational Development and Organizational Change?
What are the differences and similarities in each of these approaches to change?
Organizational Development suggests the ways the business organization grows further to achieve its aims and objectives. The design functions and the purpose are to enhance organizational effectiveness. So the strategy in it is to develop the functions and behavior that suites the organizational difference.
Organizational Change is the desire that the business has to change from one position to another to achieve the needed goals. Change can be in technology, people skills, product offerings like a variety of things that are helpful for Change management with the time and its needs for the business.
Similarities:
Change management can be a very diverse issue where the business adds to its kitty which can be departmental or organizational. The change impacts the people, technology, and process of the business. So the adoption of such change has many strategies to be associated with which makes the change fruitful and competent for the times and the market needs. Hence the development and change in such cases are all business profit-oriented making the changes for the best of business results in the long term.
Difference:
The change can be different as per the need. It can be department wise or organization-wide. The organizational development seeks to change the business and its attributes for the best of market gains. The development is aimed to make things better while the change seeks to incorporate something new like technology, skills, protocol, etc for the best of market gains in the changing business environment.
