discuss three mistakes you have experienced or witnessed in the workplace. What would be your recommendations to correct these mistakes? Explain how your recommendations would contribute to effective performance management.
Three mistakes I have witnessed in the workplace,
1) Interdependence conflict: these type of conflict arises when a person relies on some else's input, output in order for them to get their work done. For e.g. I was in the accounts department and have to wait for the salesperson to provide me the proper sales figure so to find out the profits.
The interdependence conflict can be easily overcome by ensuring that: a) people have the good handle on delegation skills.
b) that people have well trained in how to have challenging conversations.
these two recommendations will help in maintaining the proper relations between the accounts department and sales department so that the companies profit will increase.
2) Difference between background/gender: Conflict can arise between people because of difference in age, culture, educational background, personal experiences, gender, and political preferences.
For e.g. at the time of giving interviews sometimes it is very difficult to set the mindset according to the interviewer ( i.e. incompatibility between interviewee and interviewer )
3) Partiality / Unequal treatment: sometimes there is a conflict between faced
by the newly joined employee or Intern with their seniors i.e. partiality and unequal treatment faced by the newly joined employee or Intern.
As the preference is given to the seniors or the experienced employees, sometimes because this organization faced a huge loss.
this type of conflict can be overcome by altering the work system and rules in the provided company.
