What types of job-related stress have you personally experienced or witnessed? How did you manage or help manage it to an effective resolution?
Mental stress: I always the got work more than I could complete by my manager. This increased the mental pressure because I had to deliver the work every single time. I spoke to my manager about it and told him it is affecting my personal life and health. He then changed the work structure and the problem was solved.
No work-life balance: I used to take work to my home even after working for 9 hours in the office. I was not able to spend time with my family and they complained about my busy life. I had to find a way to spend time with my family and have a good personal life as well. I stopped taking the work home and started spending extra at work. But I never carried the work to home after that.
Financial stress The company delayed the appraisal and I had financial commitments to take care of. This put a lot of pressure on me and made me look for alternative income sources. I started doing freelance projects to cover all my expenses and also worked hard in order to get a good rating in my appraisal after two months.
Work environment stress: My team members were great but not all the people on the floor were very encouraging and the top management never tried to encourage me. I was also not appreciated when I did some good job. This put pressure on my performance and I was looking for a good support. I spoke to my manager and he agreed to be my mentor. I was able to share all the problems and get his feedback. He helped in understanding the work, people, and the business better after that.
