1. What type of joint is the shoulder?
2.The first bone that is mentioned in "Dem Bones" is the toe bone. What is the scientific name for the toe bone?
3. Your skeleton has many functions. Which one of these is NOT a function of the bones?
4. What is the common name for the glenohumeral joint?
5. Where are the majority of the body's bones located?
6. Which of the following best describes rheumatoid arthritis?
7.Also known as the thigh bone, which is the longest bone in your body?
8.The joint in the human skeletal system that has the greatest range of motion can be found in the shoulder. What kind of joint is the shoulder?
9. The human skull (cranium) has two main parts: the neurocranium (braincase) and viscerocranium (facial bones). Which of these is not one of the eight bones that form the neurocranium?
10. What is responsible for the formation of osteoblasts, which are responsible for the formation of bone?
11. Which three bones connect at the human knee?
12. Which of the following is NOT a facial or skull bone?
13. The "axial skeleton" consists of which of the following sections of the body?
1- The shoulder joint is ball and socket type. It is also known as glenohumeral joint. It is present between the scapula and the humerus. It is the major joint connecting the upper limb to the trunk.
In the human body the ball and socket joints are in the shoulders, where the head of the humerus fits into the glenoid cavity of the scapula, kept in place by the muscles of the rotator cuff, and in the pelvis, where the head of the femur fits into the acetabulum of the hip bone.
2- The first bone that is mentioned in "Dem Bones" is the toe bone. The scientific name for the toe bone is Phalange.
3- Production of bile is not a function of the bones. Bile is secreted by liver.
while bones provide shape and support, cause production of blood cells and cause storage of minerals until your body needs them.
4- The common name for the glenohumeral joint is SHOULDER JOINT.
5- The majority of the body's bones are located in hands and feet. Because hands and feet together contain 106 bones. That means over half of the bones of body are located in hands and feet.
6- Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease. In the case of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), it is an attack on the synovium, which is a sticky membrane that coats and protects your joints
7- Femur bone is also known as the thigh bone and it is the longest bone in body. Femur is also the heaviest bone in the body. The length of the femur is about 26% of a human's height.
8- The joint in the human skeletal system that has the greatest range of motion can be found in the shoulder. It is ball and socket kind of joint.
10- Osteoblasts are responsible for the formation of bone. Osteoprogenitor cells are responsible for formation of osteoblasts. Osteoprogenitor cells are found in bone marrow and periosteum.
11- Three bones which connect at the human knee are Femur, Tibia and Patella. The femur is the upper bone of your leg. The patella is a small bone in the knee joint, and the tibia joins from the bottom.
12- Scaphoid is NOT a facial or skull bone. It is present at wrist bone.
Because zygoma and maxilla are facial bones and sphenoid bone is a part of cranium.
13- The "axial skeleton" consists of the Head, neck and trunk sections of the body.
9- The neurocranium is composed of the following eight
bones:
1 ethmoid bone (separates nasal cavity from the brain)
1 frontal bone (the forehead)
1 occipital bone (lower back of head)
2 parietal bones (the sides and top - joining with the
frontal)
1 sphenoid bone (front middle of skull)
2 temporal bones (the sides and base)
