For this discussion, consider what the chapter says about the physical and psychological development of boys and girls. Then, consider what society is currently stating about physical fighting/rough and tumble play amongst kids. Some say it is a critical part of healthy development, while others point to laws about bullying and damage that it can cause. So, how much is too much? Should children be allowed to roughhouse? What's important to consider in this debate? Draw from the text and personal experiences in your responses.
There has been an ongoing debate about the balance between too much play and no play at all. up until the 90s, such dilemma rarely existed. There was a blend between study and play for children, among their neighbourhood kids, that not only helped them be physically active, but also indulge in team building and coordination.
but, in the recent years, parents are facing the dilemma, where, children and their play is not being balanced. Some of the children enjoy playing video games, online, offline, so very much, thst the idea of going into the field and winning a race with their feet seems an alien idea.
yesm rough play is bad for children,
and many parents tend to push their children towards online gaming
with the fear that they shouldn't be bullied or hurt by other
children. But, is that correct. The amount of rough play a child
indulges in, till the point that they are not hurt physically,
might be considered accaeptable. Unless the child is allowed to
explore their strengths, how can the child really know them.
not only does it increase their physical strength, but also mental
strength where the child knows proper coordination with peers and
also himself. The child becomes more self aware when allowed those
hours of his own, and it also adds a sense of independence in the
child.
hecne, for the overall development of the child, rough play, to
some extent should be allowed.
