In chapter 19 of the Community Toolbox, the discussion is about ethics.
What are ethical issues that should be considered when attempting a community program?
I hope you will rate my answer positively--
Ethics is a code of thinking and behaviour governed by combinations of personal , moral, legal, and social standards of what is right.
It is basically , doing no harm , respecting people as ends ,not means, respecting participants ability to play role on what they need, repeat everyone human , civil, and legal rights, doing what is best for everyone , not abusing your position .
Ethical behaviour is important in community interventions because -- program effectiveness, standing in community rises, moral credibility and leadership, professional and legal issues.
Ethical issues that need to be considered and how to play out in community interventions--
1. Confidentiality - no one will have access to records of participants with or without her permission.
2. Consent - informed consent and community consent ( stakeholders consent for community.)
3.Disclosure- disclosure to participants of the condition of the program they are in.
4. Competence -- the organisation can accomplish it's its goal under reasonable circumstances.
5. Conflict of interest - eliminate it .
6. Grossly unethical behaviour-- no sexual relationship , exploit, fraud, discrimination , criminal behaviour, etc.
7. General Ethical responsibility-- it includes funders , to staff members, to participants, to the community.
Thankyou.
