  • Adolescence is the most critical period in anyone's life.Major physical and emotional changes take place during this time.Puberty is the time when mny big changes happen both inside and outside the body.In girls it starts around 8-13 years and in boys around 9-14 years.
  • Physical changes in girls:-
  • The first sign of puberty is developing breasts.And its normal for the left and rights breasts to be grwoing at different speeds.
  • Also there would be a growth spurt,and girls would grow taller.Parts of their body like head,face and hands might grow faster than their limbs and torso,which might make them look out of proportion fora while.
  • Body shape will change,like hips would widen.
  • External genitals and pubic hair would start to grow.
  • Armpits hair will also start to grow in girls.
  • Mensturation will start around 13-14 years of age
  • Physical changes in boys:-
  • In boys also their external genitals and pubic hair would grow at a fast pace.
  • Boys also experience growth spurt around 12-13 years and start getting taller quickly.Chest and shoulders would become broader.
  • Around 13-15 years,armpits hair would grow,they will also grow hair on face and the rest of the body.
  • Boys would start producing testosterone,which stimulates their reproductive system.
  • Boys would also experience erection and ejaculation,and sometimes without any reason which they need to know is normal during these years.
  • Around 14-15 years,their voice would become break and eventually become deeper
  • Young teenagers also go through many skin,hair and body related issues during this time,as the hormonal changes are happening,along with emotional changes as well.They could develop negative self image,especially in girls,who might get influenced by the unrealistic beauty standards set for women by watching television,reading fashion magazines etc. which could increase the risk of eating disorders and depression in them.
