EMBRYONIC DEVELOPMENT-

the first two weeks after pregnancy are the germinal stage whereby the sperm and egg unite and fertilization happens. after this stage the third to eigth week is the embryonic period.the mass of cells is now known as the embryo. it is crucial for the development of the brain. the embryo divides into 3 parts. each part forms body part. the formation of the neural tube happens after 22 days of the conception. it dewvelops into the central nervous system including the brain and the spinal cord. in the beginning two ridges form on the two sides of the neural place. gradually mre ridges form resulting in the formation of a hollow tube. after this formation of cells occur which leads to the close of tube and formation of the brain vesicles.these will develope into forebrain, hindbrain and mid brain.then from the forth week the head begins to form followed by the ear, eyes, nose etc. during the fifth week the starting buds of the arms and legs appear. also the arliest activity of heart pumping can also be seen. by the eighth week the embryo weighs 1 gram and is 1 inch lonbg and has all the parts except sexual parts. research has shown by the end of this period the development is mostly complete.
