Describe an imaginary business organization and it's organizational change aimed at busting bureaucracy.
Specify which dimensions of bureaucracy are attacked and how (in which particular ways)
A bureaucratic organisation is considered that form of organisation in which pyramidal command if followed. It is very organised degree of organisation and a high degree of formality exists in the working of the the actions. Every department has its organisational chart and decisions are again made in a systemic process which goes to the centralised force. Although, these kind of organisations have a very systematic approach towards the achievement of their tasks, still many problems exists which have to be effectively tackled and change by an organisation if they want to adapt towards the change dimensions. The dimension which are especially attacked for bringing a change are:
1. Decision Making: The first dimension of the organisation which I have to talk about is the decision making ability. In the bureaucratic organisation, it is seen that the power lies with the central force and thus the speed of taking the decisions tends to become slower and ineffective. It could cause a lot of problem for the organisation. The first change would be the decentralised approach which I like to adapt in the organisation. Every department having the head managers would be given some authority to take the decisions accordingly to supervise the employees working under them. In this way, the challenge of ineffectivity can be solved.
2. Red tape Rigidity: It is often seen in the bureaucratic organisation that there exists a high degree of rigidity and a red tape system. It often leads to less innovation and creativity ideas by the employees working in the same. To solve this problem, more openess and flexibility has to be introduced in the organisation to make the innovation and creativity exists. Managers have to take the meaning of diversity and inclusion at large and take the initiative to include the employees in the decision making approach to make them learn the strategic leadership power that one manager should always possess to grow.
3. Conflict Resolution: At last, the last dimension would be conflict resolution system which doesn't prevails in this type of organisation. Many bureucratic organisations has a high degree of formality included within the different levels of the organisation which tends to make people less cohesive and thus a team spirit and a conflict solving attitude is missed in this organisation. Organisation has to understand the importance of the informal communication that should also be enabled in it. A team spirit, a sense of belongingness and friendliness should also prevail in the organisation to make the employee learn to work in a team, solve problems and grow together.
