The process of ‘people change’ in an organization is generally referred to as ‘Organization Development’ (OD). One of the recommended approaches to OD is the utilization of the ‘ideal management style’, which is embedded in managerial grid (Grid).

Although Grid OD does produce the expected benefits (increased profit, improved managerial behavior, and desirable attitudes and values in the organization), this methodology for organizational change is not free from weaknesses.

List some of the significant weaknesses of Grid OD, and briefly explain how these weaknesses can be addressed when we implement Grid OD.

Significant weakness of grid OD are;-

  • Lack of informations and interaction of coustomer for product market and development
  • Policies which confuses coustomer as well as their employees
  • Lack of product availability as compared to their demand
  • IT can required a considerable time investment, through one certainly reserve the right to set parameter and deadlines it can be viwed as intrusive by employees, who could regard the consultantas an outsider who is not entitled to their coopertaions and trust .it can be easily foiled by weak communication . employees must be kept in the loop about all the phase of anorgainsational developmnent initiative, no matter how exciting the details.
  • Lack of envolvement of top employees in in new marketing services which causes down fall of organisation
  • it can unleash a swift culture clash , especially if there is lack of employees buy in

These weakness can be addressed by following ways ;-

  • More group cheering sessions are neededto secure support for an organisational development plan .employees can be benifited from seeing proof of other companies successes,too
  • A group of employees must be appointed to address the paticular problems of the coustmer
  • Need to interview several consultants before setting on one that represents not only the best fitbut the best fit for money
  • Polices should be made on ground level which has been discussed between their coustmer and their employees    
  • Top management should participates in the new policy making process and their emplimentation must be guided by them.
  • Coustmer analysis and feedback report must be consider deliberately by the company
