A process that is producing approximately 10% defects is being reviewed as a candidate for SPC charting. After consideration the quality control engineer concludes that it is cheaper to rework the defective parts than submit the process to the necessary destructive testing to study characteristics in question properly. If this person were your boss, how would you convince him to do the testing, or would you agree with his decision?
A Thumbs Up! Would be really helpful for me. If you have any questions, please leave a comment and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
A process that producing 10% defects then it is a higher amount of defects not a short amount In a process where SPC charting is a process to analyze how much the process of manufacturing or management changes over time. Where process must pass through an average or central line that is specified in the SPC Charting. If the quality engineer is my boss and he suggests to do destructive testing in reworking that defecting products, I am not with his decision of destructive testing because of the destructive testing product destruct and rework cost is more on that product and it is not profitable for the organization, so I suggest him that we can do another testing methods like non-destructive testing as ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, electromagnetic testing, Penetration testing, visual testing, eddy current testing etc. These testing helps to identify the defects in a product more accurate and rapidly, another valuable benefit is a product not to destruct and rework can be done In low cost that helps in low affection in profitability.
