What does the development of Nike’s code of conduct teach you about acting ethically?
The development of Nike's code of conduct in 2017 tells us about how every organisation being big or small take the correct initial steps to act responsibly and ethically towards the society and its stakeholders. It tells us about the fact that organisation survives in the society, uses society's resources and thus have a moral duty towards the society as well as the people living in it to act ethically and benefit every single individual who are in association with the organisation being it customer, supplier, employee or other stakeholders.
1. Standards: The Nike's code of conduct have a special role for telling the importance of the ethical standards and commitments made by any organisation and how important they are. These commitments helps the organisation to share their values and morales and thus helps the stakeholders to understand how ethically the business is operation as accordance with the standards and goals set by it or not.
2. Health and Risk: Nike also take care of their employees at large. For them, employees are one of the main stakeholders and thus they take care of them both physically as well as emotionally. By providing them all the health and safety assurance and also by giving training and development programs, the ethical importance of making other people grow with you together and the team work spirit is shared.
3. Environmental Issues: At last, the corporate ethical responsibility towards the environmental issues is also shared by the company. To reduce the carbon emissions to the minimal, the company tries to share the value and the fact of how to reduce the environmental damage at least to be sustainable at large.
