What information will you consider going with forward as an HR Professional?
Human Resources is a diverse field with multiple operational and strategic roles. Here's all the information that I would take into account or consider, before going forward as an HR Professional
I would try and understand all the relevant roles in human resources. Human resource managers handle a diverse set of roles ranging from recruitment, attrition, talent management, grooming, training/learning & development, leadership grooming, policy writing, performance management, and appraisals. I would take my time to learn more about these roles and speak to an existing HR professional in those roles in order to find a role the matches my interests and core competencies.
After learning about HRs operational and strategic roles and functions, I would try and understand how my career trajectory would look within each role. I would try and position myself to work in a diverse set of roles in order to better groom myself for senior leadership positions and business roles in the future.
I would look for organizations or businesses where HR isn't just an operational unit, but it an active participant in the business with both operational as well as strategic inputs. Manufacturing , FMCG companies and large consumer conglomerates often have HR department that are active participants and utilize HR for functions that go well and above BAU or business as usual roles such as recruiting, into areas like Talent Management, Talent & HR Roadmap.
I would look at various management training programs in order to better educate and equip myself with essential skills for diverse roles.
