A man stands on the roof of a building of height 15.7m and throws a rock with a velocity of magnitude 26.3m/s at an angle of 25.0? above the horizontal.
1) Calculate the maximum height above the roof reached by the rock.
answer: y=___ m
2) Calculate the magnitude of the velocity of the rock just before it strikes the ground.
answer: v=___m/s
3) Calculate the horizontal distance from the base of the building to the point where the rock strikes the ground.
answer: x=___ m

A man stands on the roof of a building of height 15.7 m and
throws a rock with a velocity of magnitude 26.9 m/s at an angle of
35.0 degrees above the horizontal. You can ignore air
resistance.
1) Calculate the maximum height above the roof reached by the
rock.
2) Calculate the magnitude of the velocity of the rock just before
it strikes the ground.
3) Calculate the horizontal distance from the base of the building
to the point where the rock strikes the ground.
solution:
1.Hmax = u^2 sin^2 ?/2g = 26.9^2* sin^2 (35)/2 *9.8 = 12.14 m
2. Vx = ucos? = 18 m/s
Vy = gt = 9.8 *?2*15.7/9.8 = 17.54 m/s
mag of velocity V = ?18^2 +17.54^2 = 25.16 m/s
3. R = u sin? ?2h/g
= 26.9 sin 35 ?2*15.7/9.8
= 27.61 m
