Define or What is Public Administration?

• Public Administration is made up of two different words that is Public and Administration. Public is nothing more than the common masses of people residing in a Country, Region, or Continent. But here Public in Public Administration means Government or Governmental activities related to the affairs of Public.
• Administration on the other hand relates to any activity which hold these elements : I. Goal II. Purpose III. Co-ordination and IV. Group Activity. Moreover Administration has no limitation as there is no fixed boundary mentioned for it, thus Administration can be performed in any organisation irrespective of it’s size and scope of area.
• Public Administration therefore is any activity which upholds the elements of Administration and Govt in it. Thus, Public Administration refers to government organised system of administration for the purpose of achieving societal goals in order to affect the lives of common masses.
  
• Public administration is the implementation of government policy and also an academic discipline that studies this implementation and prepares civil servants for working in the public service.
• Public administration can be viewed from several aspects :
• Legal—The foundations of public administration in the United States are legal ones and are bound by instruments of law. Public administration is law in action in the form of statutes, regulations, ordinances, codes, etc.  
• Managerial—The executive nature of public administration enables the public will to be translated into action by the people responsible for running the public bureaucracy.
• Occupational—Public administration includes many occupational fields—medicine, engineering, social welfare, economics, etc. It is within the framework of each of these fields that the political, legal, and managerial aspects of public administration are transformed by public administrators into the work of government.
• Discipline - Public administration is considered to be a derivative of Political Science with a special focus on practical aspect of the organisation or institution. It shares it thinkers and philosophers with political science as well as sociology. Eg :- Woodrow Wilson , Karl Marx , etc.
• Vocation - Type of work/trade or profession/occupation, especially one that involves knowledge and training in a branch of advance learning.
• Process -The sum total of activities undertaken to implement Public Policy or policies to produce some services or goods.
