A three phase synchronous motor is Y-connected with the following values: 2.3 kV, 400 hp, 60 Hz, 8 poles with a rated pf of 0.85 leading. It is 90% efficient at full load with an armature resistance of 0.80 Ohms and synchronous reactance of 11 Ohms. At full load calculate the output torque, and internal generated voltage (EA)

A train runs between 2 stations, 2 km apart at a average speed of 40kmph. The train is made to run according to the quadrilateral speed time curve. If the max speed is to be limited to 60 kmph, acceleration to 2 kmphps, coasting retardation to 0.15 kmphps and the braking retardation to 3 kmphps. Determine the duration of acceleration, coasting and braking.

3. For the following analog signal:
xa(t) = 3sin(40πt) + 3cos(50πt)
which is sampled at a rate of 100 samples/second.

a. Design an IIR digital filter that will pass the first component 3sin(40πt) with attenuation of
less than 1 dB and suppress the second component 3cos(50πt) at least 50 dB. The filter should be
monotonic in the passband and have ripple in the stopband.

b. Generate 500 samples of the sampled signal xa(t) at the given sampling rate and use the
filter you designed to process the sampled signal using MATLAB’s "filter" command.

c. Plot the original signal and the output signal in one window using MATLAB’s subplot
command ( in either a 1 X 2 arrangement or a 2 X 1 arrangement. Remember to title all plots and
label all axes.

Please include Matlab code. EVEN JUST PART A HELPS

Consider a home theater system consisting of a television set, a receiver, a DVD player, and speakers. Draw a system diagram for this system. Include both components and links. What are the inputs to this system? What are the outputs? (Remember that the DVD player and receiver are both components within the system). Now draw a system diagram for the receiver subsystem. Include both its primary components and the links between them. What are the inputs and outputs for the receiver subsystem?

Do these inputs and outputs confirm to the links connected to the receiver in your system diagram?

QUESTIONS AND PROBLEMS

1. Discuss the undesirable results when transformers are operated in parallel without satisfying the required conditions.

2. What will happen to transformers with different kVA ratings connected in parallel? And what are the conditions needed to be satisfied in order to do this.

3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of having transformers connected in parallel in comparison to having one single transformer catering the entire load of the system?

Draw the circuit diagram of differential instrumentation amplifier and derive the expression of its output. Precisely control of temperature in many industries is critical to ensure the quality of the product. Discuss how you will use the instrumentation amplifier using transducer bridge to measure the temperature. Use block diagram to illustrate your concept.

Does "current travels the path of least resistance" only apply in a single loop (when there is no node) ? For instance, if there is a node that current one enters, current 2 and current 3 exist the node; If "current travels in the path of least resistance" why doesn't all the current exit through the the side of the node that has the least resistance?
