Physics is one of the fundamental branches of science which aims to describe how the universe works and hence, deals with a VAST range of topics, from galaxies to sub-atomic particles. It is, therefore, broadly broken down into three main parts - Classical Physics, Quantum Physics and Relativity - to facilitate its study and understanding.

Classical Physics, the earliest branch, deals with mechanics, gravitation, electromagnetism, astrophyics, optics, thermodynamics, chaos theory etc. But there were still questions which Classical Physcis was unable to answer which ultimately led to the birth of Relativity and Quantum Physics. Relativity, pioneered by Albert Einstein, talks about speed of light being constant, relation between energy and matter and spacetime. Quantum Physics, on the other hand, studies atoms, nucleus and fundamental particles which are the building blocks of everyhing in the universe.

Physicists are continuoulsy trying to come up with a single theory which can unify all that we know about physics. Quantum Field Theory, String Theory and Quantum Loop Theory are the ongoing attempts to do the same. There is still a lot in the universe which we observe but do not understand(dark energy and matter) and questions about the nature of our reality and our existence which bring us into the realms of philosophy. This, however, does not deter physicists, who are tirelessly working to find answers to these questions as well.
