Clay Shirky -  How the Social Media Can Make History- In this talk on the platform of Ted Talk Mr. Clay Shirky talk about the  sociel media that is How social media can make history. in his speech he talked about the median , their generation of about past 500 years , their growth and their effect on human being. so in detail - he talked about the transformed media landscape, for a person who has a information or a message whom he wanted to give to the world then he talked about the presidential election and the effect of a video uploaded and asked for people for voting and finally uploaded at a central place and considering this thing he suggested that the innovation can happen anywhere in the world. then he talked about the  transformation. then he talked about the moment in which we and our historical generation is living and capability in human history.

  • According to Mr. Clay Shirky there are only four periods in the last 500 years where media has changed so much that we can call him revolution.​​​​​​​
  1. Printing press- it was a movable type of media, which was based on oil inks, and a series of innovations required to make printing possible.
  2. Two-way communication- It is a type of conversational media where first telegraph was discovered followed by telephone. it is slow and text-based conversations medium of communication
  3. Recorded media other than print- After that about 150 years ago, a real-time voice based conversations was developed in the form of first photos, follow ed by recorded sound, movies.
  4. Radio and television- The fourth was developed about 100 years ago using the electromagnetic spectrum to send sound and images over the air.
  • Social media changed the role of the consumer- According to him the Internet has native support for both the groups and as well as for conversation simultaneously. when a new consumer joins the media same time a new producer also join, because the phones, computers like equipment you have to consume and you have to produce same time .
  • Twitter used during the Sichuan earthquake in 2008- In China Sichuan province in the year of 2008 they had a earthquake of 7.9 magnitude on Richter Scale that leads to  massive destruction. at the same time when the earthquake was reported the people were texting, Twittering,  taking photos,  making videos of incidence and  uploading it to Internet service QQ,  Due to  social connections the students , businessman and all the  people of world  listening as well as hearing the news of earthquake.  
  • Chinese government censor news of the quake- because the people all over the world already had information about the  earthquake through the BBC and through the twitter before the government of china official news so Chinese government censor news of the quake.
