There are number of ways by which the individuals suffering from eating disorders are stigmatized .There are three main types of stigmas though which these people are stigmatized .Let us discuss them one by one

Attitudinal stigma- This can be defined as the general beliefs or attitudes about the individuals having the disorder. People often stigmatized them as childish or non health conscious .
Affective stigma- This can be defined as the emotional response to individuals who are suffering from eating disorders. This involves showing upsetting and disgust emotional behavior towards the affected individuals
Behavioral stigma- This type of stigma can be defined as behaviors which are targeted towards the individuals having eating disorders. For example people body shaming the individuals or telling them their behavior is bad or showing disrespect or sometimes violence towards the affected individuals .
