Assuming you are a team of 3 to 4 graduate engineers and you are being asked to form a project team to work on a project of your choice. You should work professionally and coordinate and communicate as far as real engineers in the construction industry in HK. |
Unit Learning Outcomes: |
LO1: Assess individual and group skills in order to allocate roles within a collaborative team. |
1.Evaluate everyone own skills and discuss through self-auditing or brain storming and review. Highlight each person’s strength and weakness. 2.Develop role descriptions and responsibilities with your own team of 3 to4 within your own team. That is to find out what needs to be done in a project selected by the team. |
Team working provides a structure and means of bringing together people with a suitable mix of skills and knowledge. This encourages the exchange of ideas, creativity, motivation and job satisfaction and can extend individual roles and learning.
I think the best way to identify each others roles and responsibilities is to identify each ones strength and weakness which can be done by brainstorming with each other or by doing a role play. Identify what are the roles required for the project first and foremost
Then Ask each one of them to write the responsibility of each roles and which responsibility is very important/ crucial and why , Then you can ask each one of them to mention that which role suits them and why , basically each one needs to justify why they are suitable for that role and if others are convinced that justification you can assign that role for that person but if others feel that he is more suitable for other role then they will have to give a clarification for that point and justify their statement so that accordingly he will be assigned that role
This type of discussion will ensure that the team not only can work individually but can also work along with each other as a team toegether too wherein they can put forward their points , their agreeemnts and disagreements in a professional way which is very very important and crucial for any project
