patronizing this store in just months of its existence, it has
regained huge popularity among the local folk in Wellington.
QUESTION 1: Describe and explain 5 enablers
(related to technology) that are necessary for this concept to
work.
QUESTION 2: Give examples of technologies that can
be used for minimizing shoplifting at these unmanned stores.
Question 1:
5 enablers related to technology that are necessary for this concept to work are:
1. Machine learning algorithms for analytics : These algorithms keep track of the quantity of products present. Once they reach certain threshold, the algorithms trigger notifications and the inventory levels will be maintained again.
2. Smart Phones : To track the movements and wallet of the customer.
3. Cloud Computing infrastructure: In order to process the data and send it back to the customer for personalized notifications.
4. IOT enabled devices : In order to receive input and output from the customer's wallet using sensors
5. Automation: Most of the manual processes should be automated such that there is no need of manned checkouts.
Question2:
Examples of technologies that can be used for minimizing shoplifting at these unmanned stores:
1. RF ID Tracking: Using sensors to track a particular product and its location.
2. Closed Circuit Camera monitoring: In order to monitor the theft or shoplifting
3. GPS: To track the devices and movement of customers inside the store
4. Analytics Support in detecting the fraud committed by customers using the transaction history and movement
