2. What are at least two ethical issues associated with clinical psychology? Provide an example of a situation that could be ethical but illegal. Explain your response. in 150 words
Two ethical issues that are associated with clinical psychology are competency and the client’s constitutional rights and self-respect. An example of a situation that is considered ethical but is also illegal would be proscribing marijuana for medical purposes. This is may be ethical for people that have a authentic medical need, and it is subject to various different and often inconsistent laws on the federal and state levels which are unduly restrictive. But the fact that some people have a medical need for marijuana does not make it ethical to use it recreationally, which is still unethical, (although perhaps no more unethical than the recreational use of alcohol or tobacco, which of course is legal). In addition in some states people are working on making marijuana legalized for merely medical purposes only and therefore it will be ethical and legal if that should ever come to pass that in the next few years.
