Texas is the second biggest state in US but it is the leading state based on growth rate.Each day population is increasing at a rate much faster thanall other states. Texas must meet four challenges in order to meet the increased demand of the ever growing population.They are immigration water, education and poverty.Immigration is causing a problem in school enrolment.The population of Texas is about 18.5 million.State can adopt policies that reduce incentives for illegal immigration.States can assist the federal government in reducing jobs for unauthorised workers.State Policy makers can encourage consensus among employers that only legal immigrants are welcome.Throughout Texas the impact of immigration is felt in the school budgets .In 1982 , the Supreme court gave a verdict that Texas schools must educate all children between the ages of 5 and 17 living in Texas irrespective of immigration status.Policy makers. Texas population growth will experience water woes as the crisis of water shortage deepens.To tackle this problem Texas needs a different approachand that approach is One water.Texas could invest in green infrastructure and implement closed-loop water system that concentrates on recycling and restoration of useable waste water.Water conservation and recycling can be done at thelocal and state levels.Due to Texas high percentage of low wage jobs, many Texans are poor. Investing in education and completing upto high school education is the best strategy to reduce poverty.
Individualistic political culture arose from Dutch influence in mid Atlantic region and regards multiculture to be practical and thinks government to be utilitarian,whileTraditionalistic political culture arose in the south and which places social order and family in important role. Texas political culture is combination of the two.The individualistic culture is reflected in weak government and low spending program and comes in the way of meeting the challenges.The traditionalistic culture does not allow minorities to vote .With diverse population , Texas may shift towards moralistic culture which thinks the government will improve society.
