How can you tell if a population is going through demographic transition?
Demographic transition is a model of changes in a country's population, where the population will eventually stabilises over time during its transition from non-industrial to industrial set-up. Here the population stop growing when the country transitions from high birth rates and high death rates to low birth rates and death rates, stabilizing the population.
We can tell if the population is transitioning form the demographic transition by studying it's graph for different stages. The transition has 4 stages with different graphs:
So we can study the population demographics to find the stage at which the population is currently present and hence we can know if it going through demographic transition.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any query.
Best wishes!!
