Q3: Imagine you’re about to attend a one-day seminar dealing with intellectual property law, and you contact a friend of yours who is in the process of starting a business to urge her to attend the seminar with you. She says to you, “I’m really busy because I’m just about to launch my start-up, so I’ll have to pass. If they offer the same seminar next year, I’ll go with you then.” How would you respond to your friend? Justify your response.
1. The first thing I will do is try to convince my friend and tell her about the importance of this seminar in her business. This seminar is dealing with Intellectual property law and it is very important for entrepreneur to understand this. The initial time period of starting a business is very critical time for ensuring that a business takes steps to protect its intellectual property and avoid the risk or issues. To protect your business and inventions or ideas from your competitors, patent provides its holder with the right to make, use or sell their invention. Intellectual properties are the assets that you can use as security. For startup owners it is very important to know about different types of intellectual property rights and how can they save their startup from being copied by others. So, I convince her to attend that session because it is more important for her than me. As a friend it is my duty to make her understand what is good for her and her business.
2. After all this explanation even if she is not ready to go then I will go alone because if she is not interested in her startup protection then it is good to leave her according to her choice.
